There are typically four to six weeks of holidays surrounding Christmas. Once Christmas is over, it’s time to pack up.

It’s crucial to store your pre-lit tree properly in order to keep it fresh and attractive for longer periods of time. Keeping artificial trees and decorations in an improper manner may result in damage.

These five tips will help you prolong the life of your pre-lit Christmas tree:

Warranty

Ensure that an artificial tree comes with a warranty before purchasing it. The warranty details tell more about the quality of the material and how long the tree is expected to last. We recommend purchasing a seven- to ten-year tree warranty over the three- to five-year warranty that most companies offer.

Dismantle

Trees made of artificial materials usually come in three parts. It is better to store trees flat instead of stacking them. Disassemble them from top to bottom. And take care not to damage any of the sections as you unplug them.

Disassemble your tree carefully by folding the branches back so they are protected.

Burnouts should be checked

Make sure that pre-lit trees do not have any loose decorations or lights. It is advisable to replace any burnouts before the next Christmas period. The relatively low likelihood of LED lights burning out also extends their lifespan.

Keep them out of the box!

It is common for artificial trees to be stored back in their boxes after use. As the tree will stay there for 11 months and a few weeks, a storage bag would probably be the safer choice.

Storage location that’s great

Ensure that your tree has a cool, dry, and clean environment. Keep away from sunlight, moisture, pests, and uncontrolled environments. A basement or a closet would be an ideal place to store items.
